02.02 - Reviewing Your Starting Position
Module 2, Session 2: Reviewing Your Starting Position
Before building credit, it is important to understand exactly where you are starting. This session guides you through checking whether you currently have a credit file, identifying any accounts already connected to your name, and determining whether your history is unestablished, limited, inactive, or simply unfamiliar to you.
Through clear explanations, guided questions, and professionally designed worksheets, you will organize your basic financial information, review existing banking and payment relationships, record available income and monthly obligations, and identify credit-building resources you may already have. You will also consider your ability to manage a new payment without straining your budget. By the end of the session, you will have a documented starting-point assessment that helps you choose appropriate next steps while avoiding unnecessary applications, fees, and debt.
